Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shakar, one of the American and British sitar artist. She is the youngest female and was the first person to be awarded the British House of Commons shield. Anoushka is a new star on the rise in Indian sitar. She is the child of Ravi Shankar and a former student. Born in London and grew up in New Delhi, she spent the first few years of her life traveling between London as well as New Delhi. At the age of 13, she gave her debut performance on stage in New Delhi. Then she relocated in Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Anouskha, who is only 17 years old, has had a successful performing and recording career. Since a while, she regularly performs with her father. She has released Anourag her debut album on her own in 1998. The album was released in 2002. her Grammy nominated album Live At Carnegie Hall. Apart from performing in all of the largest venues, she also has an extensive stage presence. Anoushka isn't only a singer. She also published Bapi, the Heart of My Life, in 2002. The book is a biographical work that is a tribute to her father Ravi Shankar. In addition, she has appeared in films in 2003 she was in the movie Dance Like a Man where she portrays a young Bharat Natyam dancer. Anoushka Shankar is currently a rising star and her career will continue to grow. Anoushka Shankar is an English born singer who travelled her early days in London, Delhi and California. Anoushka Shankar started her musical studies at the age of nine. After four years she played her first sitar debut in Delhi for her father's 70th birthday party. Anoushka has gained lots of experience touring around the globe with the father. She performed in Carnegie Hall in her teenage period, as well as recorded for George Harrison's WOMAD Festival. She was the youngest and only female to receive the House of Commons Shield awarded by British Parliament in recognition of her musicianship and talent as a leading musician of the Asian Arts.
